Hi,
Hopefully someone can tell me the following, cause i could not find anything about it in the specs.
Does the Shuttle XH61V support Vt-d (Intel Virtualization Technology Directed i/o)
Thanx in advance for your reply!
Charles
PS: I am planning to use it as a ESXi5 test lab setup, using following additional hardware:
CPU – Intel® Core™ i7-3770 (Quad 3.4Ghz)
Kingston HyperX 16 GB DDR3-1600 Kit (2x8GB)
Seagate ST750LX003 (750GB/7200rpm) 2x
QNAP TS-659 (12TB) for iSCSi
It should support VT-x, but let me check with Shuttle to verify.
Charles – I verified with Shuttle that the XH61V model does support VT-x, which also should support the VT-d. There is a setting in the BIOS, but defaults to enabled.
Charles – Do keep us posted on this project, with the XH61V having dual ethernet ports built in, should help considerably.
How are you going to connect to iSCSI using this system? I was going to use NFS but would rather use iSCSI. Thanks.
From what I’ve read, you can use the NICs with ESX iSCSI software initiator.
Ok,thanks for the quick reply. I am going to search for a compatible PCI-e iSCSI card and keep my NICs for networking. Do you know of any vmware compatible PCI-e iSCSI cards?
The XH61V only has 2 – Mini PCI-E slots, 1-full size and 1-1/2 size, so a PCI-E iSCSI card won’t work.
For kexts(ALC662): http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=1629
And Kext installer: http://www.groths.org/?page_id=598
Just to mention that i do not already owned any MAC OS X machine. I have only windows and don’t want to install OS X via Virtualbox either Vmware.
Hi to all,
Is there any complete and fully verified guide on how to install OS X on a Shuttle XH61V Ivy Bridge with Sandy bridge processor installed already. ?
Thanks,
Welcome George – I think you can use the instructions I posted for the XH61 for installing Mac on the XH61V. I haven’t tested a Mac install on the XH61V model yet, but it should be very similar.
Hi again,
Well, i finally managed to install OS X Lion, via iATKOS project. All are working perfect.
Great job George! Just wondering if iATKOS is easier than MultiBeast?
For my configuration with iATKOS was much easier to set them all up and running. I used Multibeast although just to enable HD 3000 graphics(Sandy bridge system) with installation of chimerain.
I also used KEXT drop and a set of 3 kexts to enable sound(ALC662).
Now all hardware is running at optimal performance.
George – Thanks for the info. Can you tell about the Kext drop and the audio kexts, where they came from, maybe a link?
