February 16, 2013

If you are having problems booting the computer or computer won’t post, you can usually solve the problem by clearing the CMOS.

Here is how to clear the CMOS:

Answer A:  Clear CMOS button is usually located on the back of computer.  A tiny hole located on the top left or bottom right depending on the model.

Answer B:  Before clearing the CMOS,

1. remove the power cord first,

2. insert one end of paperclip into hole,

3. hold the paperclip pushed in for 30 seconds,

4. plug the power cord back in and restart the computer,

5. press “DEL” on your keyboard to enter BIOS Setting,

6. select “Load Optimized Default” or “Load Default”,

7. press F10 to save and exit, done.

Once the computer posts and boots properly, you might want to go back into the BIOS and configure settings.

Ivy Bridge for the XH61

April 25, 2012

Update Update

I received a response from Tech Support at Shuttle, he advised that they did test an Ivy Bridge processor on the XH61, but it wouldn’t post.  So, they are waiting for Shuttle HQ to do the BIOS update and will let me know when it’s available.

Update

I stand corrected, there are 2 Intel Ivy Bridge processors out now with 65W TDP.
The i7-3770S 3.1Ghz Quad core LGA1155 and an i5-3450S 2.8Ghz Quad core LGA1155.

I’m checking with Shuttle now to see if they will be providing support for Ivy Bridge on the XH61 model.
As soon as I hear back from them, I will let you know.

I noticed someone was searching for info on Intel Ivy Bridge for the Shuttle XH61 model, so I thought I would address that now.

The Ivy Bridge CPUs that Intel just released are 95W TDP, the XH61 model will only take 65W TDP, so as of right now there is no support for the Ivy Bridge on the XH61.  I’m not sure if Intel will be releasing an Ivy Bridge CPU with a 65W TDP when the other Ivy Bridge CPUs come out later this year.

If anyone else has any information regarding this, please let us know.
