You choose the chassis to meet your needs, by size, color and components, now this sounds the same as purchasing a Dell, HP, Asus or Toshiba. But, here is the kicker, in 1 to 2 years after
you’ve spent $1200 – $2000 on your laptop you don’t have to purchase a new laptop because its now obsolete or discontinued. With Shuttle’s new standardized systems, you can easily
upgrade the components for a fraction of the cost of buying a new laptop. Just like you can in a standard component desktop.
And unlike Dell, HP and the other large OEMs, the upgrade components will be readily available from any vendor or retail parts store that’s participating in the program.
Shuttle also announced that they have created the GXT Mini, an “external graphics card device” that will connect to these laptops and uses a “desktop graphics card”. So, for the Gaming and high
end graphics users, this device will be a major plus. It will alleviate the heat problem of the high end graphics cards inside the laptop and save power. They also stated that the device will soon cross platforms to a desktop also.
This is going to be a win win solution, for the environment as you’re not tossing out entire laptops and with the flexibility, will save end users a ton of money in the long term.
