Apevia SFF Gaming build

March 29, 2010

We decided to address the cooling situation, so we could overclock this PC higher and keep it running cooler, than with the stock fan. Basically, all we had to do was replace the stock case fan and installed an Antec TriCool 120mm with a 3 speed switch. Amazingly, the temps dropped 20°C on the GPU from the low 90’s to low to mid 70’s and the CPU runs at 51°C while running the stress tests.
So, this PC is ready for the market and we’ve added it to our website to see the specs and priced it at an affordable $749.99. Not a bad price for the high performance this Gaming rig produces. This rig plays Crysis so well, we were actually thinking about keeping it for ourselves.

Update on Availability on the Shuttle SH55J2

March 15, 2010

I just received an update from Shuttle, that the SH55J2 won’t be available until mid May, instead of the end of March like originally planned.

Update on the Apevia MATX SFF Build

March 12, 2010

We were able to unlock the 2 cores on the AMD Phenom X2 550 Black Edition with no problems. So far, we’ve
overclocked it to 3.6 GHz and it ran a little too warm with the stock cooling system under the stress tests. We brought it back down to 3.2 GHz and with the stock cooling system it runs very cool. We installed the EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card, its a great card and holds its own compared to the GT 220 and 240. The graphics while playing Crysis are incredible. We did have to change out the Power Supply, as the stock PS that came with the case ran at erratic voltages. We installed a Thermaltake 430 W power supply, so far its enough power and very stable. This Small Form Factor Gamer is now a “lightening fast” Quad Core and will be “very affordable” as is, but if someone wants more power, the ability is there with a different cooling system.

Small Form Factor – M-ATX

March 1, 2010

We’re in the process of building a small form factor micro-atx using the Apevia X-QPack case. We’re installing the AMD Phenom X2 550 Black Edition processor and going to unlock the other 2 cores for a Quad core processor, then overclock it to between 3.5-3.8 Ghz. We’re using the MSI 785GM-E51 motherboard and 4GB of DDR3 memory.
Will let you know how all this turns out, should be a lightening fast gamer if all works out.
